Senegalese President Bassirou Diomaye Fai rewarded the national team after their Africa Cup of Nations victory. Players will receive 1,500 square meters of land each. Members of the Senegalese Football Federation will get 50 million CFA francs and 1,000 square meter plots, while members of the delegation to Morocco will receive 20 million CFA francs and 500 square meter plots. Ministry of Sports staff will receive a bonus of 305 million CFA francs. The total bonus for the 28 players is 75 million CFA francs (approximately $135,000) per player, totaling 3.7 million dollars. These rewards come as the country faces financial difficulties. The International Monetary Fund estimates Senegal's debt at 132% of GDP by the end of 2024. The fund has frozen a $1.8 billion lending program due to a debt controversy, forcing Senegal to rely heavily on regional debt auctions.
